Integrity and the MBA Admissions Process

At Menlo Coaching, we want our clients to know exactly what they’re up against when they apply to an MBA program. It is important to have a clear understanding of the admissions process and to know whether your career goals make sense at certain programs. Our goal as a coach is to help you determine the best path for your career, and this requires absolute honesty about your prospects.

While we strive for success, we’re not just looking for a high admission rate of clients accepted into their dream schools. What’s more important to us is that we help people find the school that is going to benefit their career.

We consider ourselves to be very frank and realistic, perhaps even leaning toward pessimism. Sometimes it can be painful to hear us share bad news. Here are some of the things we’re not afraid to say to a client or potential client:

Career coaching is a big investment. We don’t want to waste your time or your money, and we won’t try and hide the truth from you.

We work best with people who are wildly ambitious and willing to use constructive criticism to make these ambitions real. Applying to business school and pursuing an MBA can be thrilling, but it’s not an easy process. It takes a great deal of time and energy to do it right: researching your options, completing your application and writing the admissions essays (see: MBA Admissions Essays). You can trust that we will always be honest with you about where you are and how you can overcome any weaknesses. We want the best for our clients, and will give them all the support they need; but support without criticism is not helpful. Our honest evaluation of every aspect of your application now will ensure that admissions committees have the best possible version of you in front of them when they make their decisions.
