Admissions Consultant

Do you have experience mentoring and developing young professionals, especially in consulting, strategy, finance and technology?

Are you familiar with the process of applying to top MBA programs, such as HBS, Wharton, and INSEAD, or are you curious to learn more? Perhaps you have served as an alumni interviewer, helped a few applicants informally with college or MBA applications, or just love writing personal essays?

Are you looking for work that’s more flexible than a corporate career, yet challenging, rewarding and well-compensated?

The role

As an MBA admissions consultant, you’ll work with applicants to top MBA programs. You must be:

  1. A sensitive listener who can help applicants to develop their personal story. You already know that schools don’t just want to see a resume and a pile of grades and test scores. They want to understand the person behind them, and successful essays often cover deeply personal topics, such as ethnic identity, family history, or personal failures and weaknesses. An MBA admissions consultant must win the trust of applicants to be successful in this area.
  2. A great editor to help applicants with the many essays involved.
  3. A mentor who can help young professionals to plan the right career path and present themselves to others effectively, with a special focus on typical pre- and post-MBA fields, such as consulting, strategy, finance, and technology.
  4. An expert — or budding expert — on top MBA programs, the MBA application process, and the experience of being an MBA student. Having an MBA may help, but is not required and does not, in itself, qualify you for the role.

You’ll work with MBA applicants who we have pre-screened for being coachable and realistic. We want applicants who will listen to your advice, and who are likely to succeed after implementing it. You can expect to build deep relationships with your candidates and to be showered in gratitude after helping them to achieve their goals.

The job is based in our offices in Baarn, NL. For the right international applicants, we are ready to sponsor Dutch residence permits and the very attractive 30% ruling tax credit.

The company

Menlo Coaching was established in 2012 and is based in Baarn, NL, just outside Amsterdam. The quality of our work has resulted in industry awards, including David’s recognition as the #1 global admissions consultant and Alice’s recognition as the #3, by Poets&Quants.

The best praise for our services comes directly from our clients:

Alice knows the admission game backwards and forwards. She genuinely cares about your success (not just in getting into a school but also your career) but at the same time, she is upfront and pragmatic about everything.

I’ve worked two different high-finance jobs in my career and consider myself a strong interviewer. I worked with David for less than an hour to prepare for my Booth interview. When I finished my interview, I confidently told David and Alice it was the best interview of my life. I *knew* I would get the Booth offer and this is not from a place of ego but just to speak as to how well David prepared me.
