In this program, students are expected to complete 46.5 credits, 12 of which are electives. In general, students take six credit hours per semester for a total of three years of learning. There are some one-credit courses that meet for 12 hours of class time.
There are several advantages to doing an online MBA program, but ultimately it is important to do whatever is best for your life and your schedule. Online programs can be cheaper, since there’s no housing cost added to the tuition, which may factor into your decision. If you’re unable to step away from a full-time position, or if you’re a stay-at-home parent, then an in-person degree might not be an option for you. In that case, an online program could be the way to go! Online MBAs are just as valid and “worth the money” as in-person programs are. Keep reading for more information!
Yes! The online program provides students with the same opportunities and education that on-campus students have access to.

In the online MBA, all coursework is completed virtually, though there are in-person learning opportunities if desired. The digital courses are organized into “learning episodes” to be completed by the professor’s designated dates. However, within those dates, there’s a lot of flexibility for students. The learning episodes contain videos, podcasts, animations, and other pre-recorded content that can be completed when the student has time to do so.
Each course requires one hour of live, synchronous class sessions each week; these are announced at the beginning of the course and generally take place in the evenings and on weekends. These lessons are recorded and made available to students afterwards. Faculty also offer virtual office hours for students to speak with them individually.
It is totally possible to work a full-time job while also attaining your MBA. As previously mentioned, anything synchronous is announced at the start of the course, and outside of that, the material is online and ready to be completed on your schedule.
As with any program, you must prepare before the live class and complete your assignments and readings before the deadline.
The school has a LinkedIn page open only to students and alumni, where you can get in contact with other grad program students and professionals in your chosen field. George Washington University online MBA students also have access to all of the same career services as their in-person counterparts. These include resume and cover letter writing assistance, interview preparation, and access to exclusive online employment platforms such as Handshake.
