  • The median starting salary at Yale experienced robust growth this year, reaching $175,000 compared to $160,110 in the previous year—a notable increase of over 9%. This upward trend was largely fueled by a substantial rise in the consulting median, which climbed from $175,000 to $190,000. Although the median signing bonus, reported by 82.1% of the 2023 graduates, remained unchanged for the sixth consecutive year at $30,000, there was a noteworthy increase in the median year-end bonus, reported by 7.6%, reaching $30,000 from $20,000. When all these elements are considered, the overall outcome for the 269 out of 294 graduates actively seeking employment this year is a median pay of $200,830. This represents a significant 7.4% increase from the $186,930 median in 2022.
  • The consulting industry remains popular among Yale graduates, and once again more than a third of Yale SOM grads chose careers in consulting. Consulting jobs were the top choice for Yale SOM MBA graduates in 2023 with 44.2% of graduates opting for employment in this field. After consulting, Finance, which encompasses investment banking and management, diversified services, private equity, and venture capital, attracted around a quarter of the graduates. More than half of the Yale graduates who opted for jobs in the diversified financial services found jobs in investment banking. A substantial 10% of the Yale SOM Class of 2023 was recruited by the Technology industry.
  • In the Yale SOM MBA Class of 2023, about 91.4% of full-time hires were from the United States. 3% of the Yale MBA class of 2023 went to the Asia-Pacific area, while only 2% went to Europe. The remaining Yale MBAs who chose to work worldwide were dispersed among MENA, Canada, South America, Central America, and the Caribbean in smaller numbers. More than half of the Yale SOM MBA class chose to work in the Northeast (60.5%), while around a quarter chose to work in the Western United States. The Midwest hosts 4.7% of Yale MBA graduates, the Mid-Atlantic houses 10.7% of Yale SOM MBA graduates, and the Southwest has 5.6%. Only 2.1% of Yale SOM MBA grads in the class moved to the South.
