Low GMAT, Over-Represented Demographic, Laid Off From Job

Deciding to work with Menlo Coaching and David was the best decision I made in my MBA admissions journey. I came from a scientific background in the pharmaceutical industry and really had no idea how to market myself or the process involved in MBA admissions. David was instrumental in my success and overcoming the many challenges I had throughout the process. I did not have the best score on the GMAT for my demographic (white male) and I ended up losing my job right in the middle of the admissions process last fall. His advice during this time was critical to my success. His feedback was always honest and thorough, and he really helped me craft my story for both essays and interviews spending hours on the phone with me just hashing out the details. Working with David: -David does not beat around the bush in his feedback. The hallmark of working with him is that you will always receive pragmatic advice that is not sugar-coated. -He knows the schools inside and out. He knows what each school looks for in their applicants and how to tailor your strategy for each school. He will provide details that many of the blogs and sites will not. – I very much enjoyed working with David. I always had the feeling that he was invested in my success and deeply cared about how I was doing in the process. Menlo Coaching does a great job of limiting their consultants to a handful of clients so a good working relationship can be formed with the consultant. -He responds to issues very quickly. Whenever I had a question for David (which was almost every day) he would be very quick to respond to emails. Either he would respond immediately or within a couple of hours of me sending it to him and the next day at the very latest if I sent it at night. We had a great system worked out where I would send a new draft of an essay to David at night and I would say 95% of the time I would have the draft back with his comments the next morning. It would always be back to me by the afternoon of the following day with comments and questions I never thought about. -His feedback on essays and interview responses was always extremely thorough and well thought out. It was great having someone look at my essays who was not related to me and provide me honest feedback. Working with Menlo Coaching: Menlo coaching had a very structured process for all their clients. It can be easy to get lost in the shuffle with everything you need to work on in the application process, but Menlo Coaching’s program takes all the worries out of the process. We used a great website to keep track of all our work that was very easy to use. In the end, I would 100% recommend working with David and Menlo Coaching if you are on the fence about it. His advice was critical to my success and I would not be in the position I am today without him. My GMAT was a weakness I could not overcome (David had always told me this and I knew it would be an issue) to get into my dream school but I was admitted to a great program and I am excited to finally be attending business school in the fall! From not knowing how to market myself as a scientist looking to transition to business to now, David was instrumental to my success along every step of the insane journey that is MBA admissions.
