GSB Admit — Excellent Experience with Menlo & Alice

Before hiring Alice/Menlo, I spoke with numerous admissions consultants. I had heard about Menlo through personal referrals, and in my intro call, it was immediately obvious that the team had a differentiated grasp of the admissions process. More so than the other consultants I chatted with, Alice (and David, her Menlo partner) quickly understood my background and the strengths/weaknesses to build an application around. Throughout the process, the Menlo team provided a range of resources that far outpaced what other consultants offered. Alice and David connected me with current students at schools that interested me and with similar applicants concurrently going through the process so we could spit-ball ideas. Alice and David work with an absolutely excellent speech coach, Eduardo, who constructively supplements the interview prep they provide by sharing warm-up drills and speech strategies. Their program is much more comprehensive than what other consultants provide, which justifies the generally higher cost. Anytime I had a question on my application or strategy, Alice would respond promptly with detailed feedback. Alice’s essay edits were rapid and carefully tailored; Alice was never afraid to suggest a large-scale rewrite or to be critical of a poorly written passage, and my essays ultimately benefited from that level of scrutiny. In the weeks prior to the application deadlines, I’d been swamped with work. When I finally had some time to work through my applications, I was about to hit the deadlines. Alice and David invited me to Baarn, the suburb of Amsterdam where they are headquartered, to work with them in person at their office. They provide all of their clients with this opportunity, and without question, being out there in-person allowed me to reach peak efficiency and produce very high-quality essays in a short period of time with consistent attention from Alice and David. I think this experience in Baarn played a significant role in my success admissions to multiple elite schools. Overall, I believe Menlo provides a creative, comprehensive, and thoughtful coaching service. They are constantly looking for ways to improve and augment the services they provide, and I really think they’re best-in-class, which has been proven out by their consistent success.
