Columbia & LBS Offers Despite Being From An Over-Represented Group

Despite a good GPA in undergrad, I had yet to secure a good GMAT score and had mediocre work experience (3 different jobs without an increase in pay or promotions). While all other consultants told me that a top 10 MBA program would be impossible (which was quite demoralizing), Rebecca, on the other hand, was honest about the parts of my application I needed to improve to stand any chance. At that moment I knew she was the right consultant for me. In addition to having all the qualities of an exceptional consultant, I thought I’d mention some personal examples that made working with her truly unique: 1. She takes a genuine interest in making sure her clients stay focused and committed to the process. When I was struggling to get a good GMAT score, she kept an entire session with me to teach meditation techniques to calm exam anxiety. Even when I couldn’t focus on writing essays due to personal reasons, she was very mindful, not only allowing me to take some days off but also sharing some personal examples of how she continues to write through distracting periods. 2. I was moving to another country right around the application deadlines and Rebecca ensured that my applications were reviewed and submitted in advance. She works in a very organized manner with clear deadlines and a roadmap of what needs to be achieved. This helped me feel accountable, plan my tasks, and ensure I wasn’t panicking closer to application deadlines. 3. When I first met Rebecca, I truly had no idea of what my post-MBA career plans were. Working with her helped me determine my post-MBA career goals. In addition to providing me with helpful resources about different career paths, she also connected me with past clients. 4. When one of my interviews didn’t go too well, she took time to meet within a day’s notice to help me prepare for my other upcoming interviews. Even after my acceptance, she has kept in touch and has been giving me tips on how to best prepare myself before joining. 5. For interviews and video essays, she makes sure to perfect even the smallest details (background, attire, camera angle, zoom level, lighting), truly maximizing the interview ROI. 6. Finally, I found the writing process with her to be so introspective that interview preparation became much easier.
