Amazing Experience & Results With Alice

I worked with Alice for Round 1 applications in 2018. My situation was complicated by the fact that my GMAT was below average for most schools (700) and that I’m a British-Indian (whilst I was born and raised in the UK and my parents were born and raised in Africa, my Indian heritage was obvious through my name). With this came the usual concerns about how schools ‘bucket’ people from certain ethnicities. If you take one thing away from this review, let it be that Alice was AMAZING (I cannot stress this enough and I could not have done it without her; every penny was well-spent!). Firstly, I had a 30-minute consultation with Alice. I was instantly struck by her willingness to listen to me, gather all the data-points and then offer her views. Unlike other consultants that I had spoken to, Alice didn’t feel the need to force Menlo’s services through an intense sales pitch. Instead, she was honest about my candidacy for the top schools. Whilst all the other consultants I spoke with were very keen to tell me what I wanted to hear, I knew that Alice’s honesty would serve me well and give me those extra few yards which will be the difference between getting in and missing out. I instantly gathered that she would make the difference….and she did. it was obvious to me that Menlo wanted to give me the best possible shot by being honest and blunt with the assessment. Throughout the process, Alice was available, dedicated, calm and simply brilliant. We spent time (I think almost 2 hrs) talking through my whole life (from my parent’s journey to my siblings to my career choices). She then said ‘hmm, interesting, let me mull over this for a day…’. She came back with an outline of the most brilliant story – picking bits that I would have initially considered irrelevant. She offered an end-to-end service from deciding on schools to agreeing on a story to discussing bespoke approaches for different schools (including how to network) to reviewing my wider application to working with my referees to providing thorough interview preparation to offering me support when I was going through periods of doubt! As everyone would agree, the application process is stressful, but Alice took the edge off and guided me immensely. She was also SUPER responsive – I would usually get a response to emails within a few minutes and essays with comments would be returned at least within 24 hrs (most of the time within a few hours). I guess the biggest compliment I can pay Alice is that I felt like I was her only client (she had another 10-11) with the amount of attention she gave me. I feel as though Menlo Coaching was able to turn water into wine! Considering the hurdles I was facing, Alice got me through step by step. I was admitted to Yale, LBS, UCLA (with more than 50% scholarship), Cambridge (with scholarship), Ross (with scholarship) and wait-listed at two other schools (so at least I can say that I received no rejections!!). I could not have achieved this without Alice’s guidance. Alice and David’s understanding of the industry and of a range of schools are second to none. They are also constantly evolving to stay ahead of the game – for example, David recently came to London to speak with LBS admissions, and equally, I know that David/Alice frequently do the same with the US schools. Overall, you can’t go wrong with David and Alice. I appreciate that admissions consultants cost a lot of money, but if you want to go with a team who truly, genuinely cares about your success, has the ability to craft out a unique story based on your unique and personal journey, and has insight into what different institutions look for, go with Menlo. Menlo Coaching will give you the edge. I now look back on the process fondly (!) and that is due to the support I had from Alice. Last thing I would like to add is: don’t think Menlo will do all the work for you. You need to reciprocate to make the most out of the service. I worked intensely over the last few months to get my work to a high standard and to address comments from Alice quickly and efficiently. You have to really dig deep and be clear on why you want to do the MBA. You have to show yourself and the team at Menlo that you really want this and you have to put in the work to achieve the best possible results.
