Admitted To HBS – Well Worth The Investment

Coming from a tough professional and demographic cohort, and finding it initially challenging to adequately differentiate my application from my peers, I looked to admissions consultants to provide the guidance and expertise needed to tell my story best and make my application stand out. David came highly recommended and he certainly did not disappoint. There is an excellent online portal with weekly video modules, assignments, message boards, and other resources. The program was structured and organized, which was particularly useful during times when work or other life commitments were taking up a lot of my time and energy. David was always patient, but also not afraid to remind me of my pending to-do’s or offer up his time for a phone call. When I needed something from David it seemed like he was always available within the next 24 hours, though typically sooner. David’s value really shined when we worked together to identify the key aspects of my application to highlight, which ultimately serve as the foundation for each of the various components of the application (resume, recs, essays, etc.). In many cases, David identified certain experiences, personal strengths, and accomplishments of mine that I had either previously ignored or did not adequately explain in my application. By leveraging David’s thoughtful approach and perspective, based on years of real-world and admissions consulting experience, I was able to present my target schools with a truly differentiated and clearly defined candidate profile. Another important component of David’s process is the multitude of resources available to you, which may just be the needle-mover you need. For example, the interview prep work was excellent. From mock interviews with several of David’s colleagues and friends to multiple sessions with Eduardo, an actor who assists with physical and verbal presentation, expression and messaging, I felt totally prepared for my interviews, particularly at HBS, where the interviewers are intimately evaluating how the candidates will fare and actively participate in the case study method. As the title indicates, I was eventually accepted to HBS as a member of the Class of 2021 and David was with me every step of the way. It was an enjoyable and absolutely worthwhile experience.
