David is the current CEO of a firm that provides tests for public safety. His background also includes a PhD in psychometrics and a Juris Doctor degree. Yale’s mission statement resonated with David and he was excited to accept their offer. At 77, David became the oldest applicant to be accepted into an EMBA.
One of David’s greatest passions is swimming. He recalls attempting to swim the Nile, but being interrupted by too many crocodiles. In fact, David was already well acquainted with Yale’s campus, even before accepting their offer, as he had been an ardent user of their swimming pool whenever he found himself in the area.
David was interested in getting some business training to ensure a better business model for his company. He found himself at a stage in life where it was important to him to secure the future of his firm and he felt that pursuing an EMBA would be the logical next step.
For David, the holistic picture that needed to be presented in the applications was a challenge for him. Luckily, his coach, Rebecca, is a master of that challenge. All her advice from the year that they prepared his application together, turned out to be spot on, and David grew to fully trust her.
David’s recipe for success is to have structure, discipline, and a coach! Menlo Coaching’s support will make the process easier, but you have to be willing to put in the time and effort.
