Never wonder, “Could I have done more?”

No-Limits Law School Admissions Consulting

Every year, Menlo Coaching helps a small group of students win admission to T14 law schools with applications that reflect the full strength of who they are.

Our approach is comprehensive and deeply personal: By capping our client list at 10–15 applicants per application cycle, we ensure you will get the time and attention needed to produce your best work through unlimited 1:1 coaching.

That means we don’t offer—or believe in—hourly essay editing or à la carte services. Our flat-rate, hands-on, all-in program means we will optimize everything about your candidacy to help you maximize your chances at the most selective programs.

March 15, 2025

If you’re applying to law school this year, you’re stepping into one of the most intense admissions cycles the field has ever seen.

That means it’s not enough to be a strong candidate: You need to be sure that every element of your application is fine-tuned, strategic, and dare we say, perfected.

Because if you’re going to take the time, effort, and money to apply to law school—something that could define your next 50 years—you owe it to yourself to do it right.

And yet, even the most capable applicants struggle to know where to begin … or what “doing it right” actually looks like:

  • I don’t have anything to write about.
  • I don’t know what differentiates me from other applicants.
  • I’m worried my GPA is too low.
  • I’m not sure if I’m applying to the right schools.
  • I don’t know what schools are looking for.
  • I’m worried my resume looks too generic.
  • I don’t have strong recommenders.
  • I’m unsure how to explain gaps or weaknesses in my profile.

I’m running out of time and don’t know where to start!

So … where do you go from here?

Go “Totally Overkill” on Your JD Application

At Menlo Coaching, we help you achieve maximum impact with your JD application by excessively preparing you at every stage of the process.

This overpreparation comes in many forms. For example:

  • We’ll give you unlimited 1:1 time with an expert consultant who has a “nose for story”: Thinking through your life and your stories and where you come from is a core part of this process. That’s why we hire coaches primarily for their skills as writers and storytellers, along with their ability to develop narrative strategies that are targeted, precise, and—most importantly—authentic.
  • We’ll push your resume through 15+ rounds of refinement: By taking the time to fully explore your personal and professional history, we’ll help you prepare a law school resume that’s not just a list, but a powerful narrative of your qualifications, trajectory, and future potential.
  • We’ll challenge you to adapt your personal statement for each school: The personal statement is your main chance to differentiate yourself from a crowd of highly qualified candidates. But many applicants do the bare minimum to adjust their statement when prepping each application. When you work with us, you’ll whittle, hone, and tailor your personal statement to match the specific prompt for each school—giving the admissions committees the feeling that you wrote the statement exclusively for them.
  • We’ll take on every optional essay: Every optional essay is free real estate—extra space to demonstrate your fit to the admissions committee. Though it can be tempting to skip these essays to reduce your overall work load, we won’t let the opportunity slip by.
  • We’ll collaborate with your recommenders to craft letters that work for you: We’ll help you prepare detailed briefing documents to guide your recommenders, ensuring they speak directly to the unique aspects of your profile, your strengths, and your contributions. And we’ll help them revise their drafts until they are well aligned with your application strategy.
  • We’ll manage your time and keep you on track over months of hard work: Law school admissions is a marathon, not a sprint. We’ll help you stay motivated and focused throughout the grueling process of prepping your applications, and we’ll never let you miss a deadline.

I didn’t realize how much I was overlooking until I started working with Menlo Coaching. At the start I really leaned into the coaching sessions to kind of reframe and rethink my entire approach. By the time we finalized the ‘Menlo version’ of my personal statement, I was blown away. Compared to what I wrote after talking to my coach, the first drafts I did solo were embarrassing. It’s really hard to do this by yourself, and having someone I could talk to as much as I needed made all the difference in the end.

The We-Don’t-Believe-in-Packages JD Admissions Package

Hourly rates or discrete packages simply don’t account for the nuanced, evolving nature of the law school application process, and they certainly don’t jibe with our all-in, do-everything-it-takes model.

We want to be fully present for you, adjusting our support to match your current needs in the moment, without being limited by a rigid framework.

As a result, we’ve simplified. Our package includes just one thing: everything.

When you work with us, you get unlimited coaching, unlimited questions, unlimited drafts, unlimited calls.

And the unlimited nature of the service isn’t selectively applied to the “crunch time” before deadlines. It starts on day one with profile building, continues into the essay writing stage, carries over to your recommenders, and follows you past deadlines into final school selection.

We’re Giving Away Our Law School Admissions Secrets

We believe informed applicants make better decisions—and better clients. That’s why we publish detailed articles that explain exactly how we want you to approach your law school applications.

If you like how we think, you’ll probably like working with us.

How to Get into Law School: Requirements & Top Tips

What do you need to get into law school? That is, what does a great application for a T14 or T20 law school look like? In the words of Supreme Court Justice Potter Stewart: “I know it when I see it.”

How to Write the Perfect Law School Personal Statement

It seems like a lot to fit into two pages. And it is. That’s the difficulty: How do you tell a dense, passionate, authentic, and unique story that answers all these questions while also working strategically to maximize your chances?

Law School Application Timeline

Think of law school admissions like a marathon: The more time you give yourself ahead of the actual race day, the easier it will be to hit your target time.

How to Write a Great Resume for Law School

How hard can it be, really? After all, a resume is just a list of your past experiences, right? Nothing could be farther from the truth. A chronological list of past activities is a basic resume, but a great resume is so much more.

Your coach is not working in place of you. You’re going to work and you’re going to work very hard and you’re going to write a lot. But with his guidance, it’s just a life changer. And now that I’ve graduated, the foundation we built in the application process has continued to guide me in my next steps as a professional. I use the understanding of how to write about myself, how to talk about myself, still today.

Answers to Frequently Asked Questions

Do you offer hourly services or essay-only packages?
No. We don’t believe limited support is enough for something as high-stakes as law school admissions. We work with a small number of clients each year and commit fully to each one.
What kind of applicants do you work with?
We work with a wide range of applicants—from those with near-perfect stats to those who need to overcome a number of weaknesses. What they share is a willingness to work hard, take feedback seriously, and commit to producing the strongest possible application.
How much does it cost?
Most clients pay a low five-figure amount for comprehensive support on their application process. We can give you an exact quote after a consultation, once we know where and when you are applying.
What if I don’t get in?
Naturally, we can’t guarantee admission. If you must make a reapplication, we offer an affordable hourly service that will target only the areas where you need additional assistance. But know that this is a rare occurrence, and it’s usually the result of an aggressive application strategy (for example, targeting only two to three programs).

I hired Menlo Coaching because I felt like my application was really kind of my one shot, and I really just felt like I wanted to put my best foot forward and make one really good run at the application process and get a great outcome.

I think one of the most helpful processes from Menlo Coaching is the interview preparation. You go about mock interview from different angles, not just with your consultant, but with other people who might not know you as well, so there’s a fresh perspective.

Within the first few minutes of going through my profile, Yaron was able to be incredibly honest with me about where my weaknesses were and what my strengths were. And in that short call I learned more about the MBA application process than I had in the entire time researching it by myself.
